Costa Rica Packing List
Less is more. Make sure that all clothing you bring fits comfortably. The following list is suggested for a 7-10 day student trip:
Common Travel Clothing
● 2-3 pairs of pants
● 2-3 pairs of shorts
● 1 long-sleeve shirt
● 3-5 short-sleeve shirts
● 1 sweatshirt or fleece pullover (May-December)
● Raincoat
● 6-8 pairs of underwear
● 2-4 pairs of socks
● 1 pair of sandals
Adventure Clothing
● 1 pair of quick-dry shorts
● 1-2 quick-dry T-shirts
● 1 quick-dry long-sleeve shirt
● Swim suit/board shorts
○ Two-piece suits are acceptable for women
● Hiking boots
● Towel for beach
Toiletries
● Toothbrush & Toothpaste
● Travel-sized shampoo & soap/shower gel
● Bug spray (we recommend mixing your own bug spray with coconut oil and citronella oil)
● Sunscreen
● Razors for entirety of stay
● Eye glasses, eye glass cases, contacts, contact solution
● Feminine products (if you prefer to stick with your common brand)
Other Necessary Items
● Hat and/or sunglasses
● 1-2 plastic bags for storing wet clothes/shoes
● Water bottle
● Compact umbrella
● Basic first aid kit that may include:
○ Bandages, gauze, adhesive tape, cotton swabs, antiseptic, tweezers, scissors, disposable gloves, anti-fungal/antibacterial cream, anti-itch cream, 1% hydrocortisone cream, sunburn treatment (aloe vera), blister moleskin
○ Medications for pain, fevers, nausea, diarrhea, respiratory problems, motion sickness, allergies
○ Thermometer
○ Hydrating eye drops
○ First aid quick reference card

○ Cell phone
○ Camera
○ Chargers
■ Outlets are the same in Costa Rica as in the United States.
■ Be sure to bring a plastic bag to cover your electronics, as you are likely to get caught in the rain!
